Llandyssil - Home of Dragonfest

The Dragons roared to success at Dragonfest '09 on 12th September, but have now returned to their caves, lairs and nests until next year.

‘Dragonfest’ was born in Llandyssil, Powys, Wales in 2007 and stars the now renowned Llandyssil Dragons. Dragonfest promotes our national heraldic emblem, the Dragon of Wales. It also brings together, in a fundraising event, this village, the district and parish of Llandyssil, with many local friends and villages from around Wales and across many borders –including England - for a ‘Fun Filled Day’ here in beautiful, rural mid-Wales.

‘Dragonfest’ is fast becoming an International day of family fun, of live music, story telling, of field games at the Dragonfest Olympics and the very serious Tug of War. Visitors came from as far afield as New Zealand, Ireland, south-east of England, as well as from all over Wales.  Do come to visit the numerous stalls of ‘Bric A Brac’, Gifts and Collectables, Books, and Bottles, local Welsh produce, cakes, meats and sausaes, or enjoy drooling over locally made Ice Cream. Other stalls and attractions include a real steam train, ‘The Pillory, ’Bouncy Castle, jewellry and craft stalls, and many others. Try winning the ‘Dragonfest Hunt’ , amble around the local easy Village Dragon Walks – if you dare!

Enjoy great food and a drink - a ‘Dragon Roast’ – “tastes like pork!”. Vegetarians, why not try our 'alternatives'?  Buy scrumptious homemade cakes, all manner of refreshments. Drink them from your very own ‘Dragonfest mug’. Buy yourself a ‘Dragonfest Polo or Tee-shirt’, enhance it with your ‘Dragonfest Badge, , Tea Towels, Bag, Hats, Posters – more unique items like Llany-bears which have already become 'collectables'.

Look out for Dragons of ALL kinds EVERYWHERE. This year's 'Dragon masters were exceedingly imaginative.  Attend The Oscars the village's duck races - why not buy a Duck?. Try your luck at the games like Dragonheart, The Hafren Hoop-la, Dragon's Teeth, Snack-a-Drag, Dragon's Try,  Celebrity Challenge with Iolo Williams, and £100 Raffle amongst them. Sing the first two lines of 'Puff the Magic Dragon' to find a 'Singing Dragon and win real money to spend at Dragonfest.  Why not come dressed as a Dragon to win a prize? All ages are welcomed.  Procession at 12.30 from the Village Hall from 11th Sept 2010. Lots of things to see and do plus many Free things to do as well as Free entry and Free Parking.
